Limiting beliefs constrain us, they hold us back from our goals, our dreams and success. Limiting beliefs hinder us from reaching our full potential and from being our best selves.

Limiting beliefs come from our life experiences. Some developed in our childhood, some developed as a result of a traumatic experience. It affects our motivation, our confidence, and ultimately our happiness. We fear so many things – rejection, not feeling loved, failure, success, not feeling worthy, not feeling important, people’s assumptions, and perceptions.

“Beliefs are like filters on a camera. What the camera ‘sees’ is a function of the filters through which it is viewing its subject. In other words, how we ‘see’ the world is a function of our beliefs and profoundly influences personality.

As a result of our beliefs, we define ourselves as worthy or worthless, powerful or powerless, competent or incompetent, trusting or suspicious, belonging or outcast, self-reliant or dependent, flexible or judgmental, fairly treated or victimized, loved or hated. Your beliefs have far-reaching consequences, both positive and negative, in your life. Beliefs affect your moods, relationships, job performance, self-esteem, physical health, even your religious or spiritual outlook.”

Psychologist, Robert M.

Don’t allow your limiting beliefs to hold you back. Recognise them, acknowledge them, and then do something every day that shapes your life and who you are with empowering beliefs. Empowering beliefs give us power and impact our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Life is after all an incredible gift – create the life you want and deserve.
